Several of our sHAI members visited the CONVERSATIONS 2023 workshop in Oslo last month, learning about newest advancements in chatbot research. As Large Language Models have changed the chatbot-research landscape dramatically, many discussions were held. Not only recent conceptualizations, experiments, and models were presented, but the conversations also drifted towards ethical and legal implications (keynote Finn Myrstad), and different perspectives, as well as considerations by practitioners (keynote Nena van As).
A lot of research and ideas were presented, but much more is expected to emerge within the next years.
We look forwards to the continuations of so many interesting projects, and are curious what this fast-developing technology will bring in the near future.
